    The March NASHRM training is scheduled for Thursday, March 16, 2023. Training will be delivered using Zoom, an online audio and web conferencing platform. If you plan to attend, please reply to this email by Tuesday, March 14, 2023, and the link will be sent to you.

    Our start time is 11:45 a.m. for sign-in, with the program running from 12:00-1:00 p.m. This presentation is expected to be approved for SHRM and HRCI credits.

    Session Description: Training will share data and analysis on Alaska’s economy – covering the state of the labor market and demographics of particular interest to HR professionals.

    Session Objective(s): Attendees will be presented with information on the current state of Alaska’s economy and how that impacts employment, in particular recruitment and labor demographics.  The presentation will also provide data and metrics on unemployment, population and related projections in the state.

    Presenter Bio: Neal Fried is an economist with the State of Alaska Department of Labor.  His primary duty is to produce economic data and analysis on a variety of economic issues facing Alaska. Neal is a primary author of articles appearing in the monthly magazine Alaska Economic Trends – his articles cover a wide variety of the State’s economic issues. 

    Neal served on the Alaska Public Media board, the King Career Center’s Business Industries advisory committee, UAA’s Advisory board as well as the Pacific Northwest Economic Conference board.  He received the Governor’s Denali Peak Performance award and the Alumnus of the Year award from UAF.
