    February NASHRM Meeting - Managing Different Generations

    The February  NASHRM training is scheduled for Thursday, February 16, 2023. Training will be delivered using Zoom, an online audio and web conferencing platform. If you plan to attend, please email our Program Director, Traci Gatewood at traci@g2diverse.com, by Tuesday, February 14, 2023, and the link will be sent to you.

    Our start time is 11:45 a.m. for sign-in, with the program running from 12:00-1:00 p.m. This presentation is expected to be approved for SHRM and HRCI credits.

    Session Description: Training will share distinct characteristics, values, and attitudes toward work for each of the five generational groups and provide attendees with strategies for creating a corporate culture that actively demonstrates respect and inclusion for its multigenerational workforce.

    Session Objective(s):

    • Learn to identify when communication conflicts or misunderstandings are related to different generations.
    • Develop strategies that facilitate communication across generations. 
    • Learn to capitalize on generational differences to lead five generations in one direction.

    Presenter: Charlie Dexter is a longstanding professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, developing and teaching business related courses since 1985. He received his bachelors and master’s degrees from UAF and also received a graduate certificate for studying Servant Leadership at Gonzaga University.  He is a licensed Time Management/Personal Productivity Trainer as well as SPHR certified.  He continues to serve in many capacities in the community and also contributes to the Fairbanks Daily News Miner as a business columnist.  Charlie has received many academic honors over his career, including the Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and Usibelli Distinguished Service Award, to name just a few of many.
