Colleen Savoie will provide recent regulatory developments in employer-sponsored health benefits. She will also discuss the legislative landscape on both the state and federal levels, focusing on how potential legislation might impact employer-sponsored benefit plans. At the conclusion of the training, HR professionals will understand current regulations and have information to prepare strategically for possible impacts of future legislation.
Colleen is a Principal, Vice President, and Account Executive in the Employee Benefits Department at Parker, Smith & Feek. Colleen is responsible for assisting with the design, implementation, and administration of client’s employee benefits program. Colleen’s tenure in the employee benefits field began in 1996 with WF Corroon in Nashville, Tennessee, where she provided benefits administration outsourcing services, including Section 125 administration. In 1997, she moved to Alaska and began providing benefits consulting services to Alaska clients. As benefit firms in Alaska have merged or been acquired, she has worked for both local Alaska employers and larger national firms. Colleen’s experience includes active and retiree benefits, complex plans with multiple divisions or bargaining units, various funding mechanisms, preferred provider contracting, ancillary benefits, flexible benefit plans, wellness and disease management programs, compliance issues, and benefits administration.
Colleen received her Bachelor of Arts from Rice University, in 1996. She is an active member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, has been actively involved in Alaskan legislative issues, and is an experienced speaker on employee benefit issues to audiences in Alaska and the lower 48. In 2014, she was named one of the 20 Most Influential Women in Employee Benefits by Employee Benefits Advisor. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Alaska SPCA. In 2015, she was appointed to the Board of Directors of Parker, Smith & Feek.
